Through Sunday at 10:00 p.m. EST, take 15% off your total purchase at CJ's Craft Corner when you enter the coupon code BLACKFRIDAY2010!

We have pretty fabric...

Bag holders to help you stay organized...

Christmas decor for your home...

Tea wallets...

And lots more! Stop in and see us and have a great weekend!!

I have been trying to finish up lots of projects that I had ideas for, bought the supplies, and never quite started (or finished). I'm hoping to get lots done this month so I can start work on Christmas presents I want to make!

You'll have to excuse the fact that all of the pictures were taken in poor light - at night, no less.

We've been doing some porch "fluffing" inspired by this post at Homespun Heart. We added curtains made from drop cloths ($10 each at Lowe's), got new pillows ($5 each at Home Depot), put in a new light (on clearance for around $8!!), and I made a fabric bunting to hang. Love how cozy it feels now. We've been spending more time hanging out on the porch now and really enjoying the space - which is great when you live in a small home (around 1100 sq. feet). I would love the enclose the porch some day, but this is my budget re-do - probably cost around $100 for every thing. I'd still like to get a rug to finish it off.

Featured Etsy Shop: HeartEscapes

HeartEscapes is another wonderful Etsy shop that I was fortunate enough to win a prize from. The shop offers a lovely combination of jewelry, pottery, and photography. The prize I won was an 8x10 matted photo.

The shop owner was great to work with. Her communication was great and the item was packaged beautifully. This photo is going to be a present for my husband! I chose the fourth one down - the railroad tracks since he is a train buff. I had a really hard time choosing my photo and I thought this one was really pretty, too.

I am putting away a lot of these prizes for presents and am so excited to be able to give them. I won another(!) giveaway this week, so I still have two more shops to share with you.

Also, our two-year Etsy anniversary is coming next weekend, so be looking for a giveaway from us!!

Featured Shop: Above All Fabric

I want to highlight another shop that I won a great prize from a couple weeks ago! Oh, Sweet Joy did a giveaway on her blog Yellow Songbird. The prize was 9 fat quarters of Mo Bedell's Party Dress fabric from Above All Fabric.

These fat quarters are gorgeous and I am hoping to make them into a small quilt for my mom's Christmas present!

Check out this shop! She has a fabulous selection, super fast shipping, and great communication! Thank you!

Featured Etsy Shop

I have been thrilled to win 3 different Etsy/craft giveaways over the last couple of weeks. I want to share each shop with you and tell you a little about what they make.

The first giveaway I won was for a custom banner and avatar set from WingsDove. Mary was fabulous and professional as she gathered information about what we make and our likes and dislikes in terms of graphic design. She also was wonderful about making any changes we needed. I would highly recommend her work!

Here is our finished banner!

We won this great prize from a giveaway from ChristieCottage's blog. She has a weekly giveaway with wonderful prizes from talented Etsians. Thanks so much to both of them! We are pleased with our new look!!

When I saw this tutorial for a museum tunic dress at Anna Maria Horner's web site, I decided to give it a try. I only had elastic thread on hand instead of the elastic - and let me tell you - I need work on the elastic thread! I had a really hard time with it and made a belt for it instead.

Super simple dress, though, and easy to adapt - mine does not have as deep of a "v" in the front or back and worked well over a tank top. It was really comfortable, too. I think it will work well with tights and a cardigan in the fall/winter.

I used some of the fabric from the Cherish Nature line by Moda.

OK - if you have tips on using elastic thread, send them my way...I am not sure I will be trying it again in the very near future, though!

Happy Summer! Loving these hydrangeas and butterfly bush in a Ball canning jar I got at a garage sale last Friday...

Patchwork Pillow Cover

I have been enjoying using fabrics to make various patchwork projects lately. I am gradually moving into more attempts at quilting, but a couple of weeks ago, I was playing with some fabric scraps and started doing some cutting. I put together an arrangement that was pleasing to me, thinking it was going to be a patchwork table topper.

I pulled it out today (in an effort to get some projects in my basket finished!) and started sewing it together. When I finished, it was almost the correct size to make a 16" pillow cover. I decided to add one more strip of fabric to make it the right size, and then used some leftover minky to make the back of the pillow cover.

Here is the finished project! I love the colors and fabrics. They seem cheerful and perfect for summer! I had a lot of fun with this, and can definitely see making more. I am thinking about offering them for sale in the shop...what do you think?

A New Dress

Here's a new little dress I sewed for my girl...I am hoping it will work as a top in the future. I used inspiration from these two sites to put it together, but didn't really follow any pattern, just some simple measurements.

From an Igloo: One Hour Sundress

Kojo Designs: Fabric Tie Sleeves

Oh, and just to keep it real, the dress is already in the got mini M&M's squashed on it during a lunchtime picnic. I think Dreft should take care of it. :)

A Blanket, a Recipe, and Holidays on the Brain

I'm still here! Keeping busy, but wanted to stop in with a few goodies...

I have been doing lots of sewing and finished a baby blanket for a friend. It was my first time making something like this and it was so fun! I am going to make my daughter a larger one. She requested pink and so I have so pretty fabrics all picked out. This one used some Dick and Jane fabrics. So fun!

I made this granola today. Really easy and really yummy! Will definitely be making more!

I have been doing more crafting and activities with my daughter and was excited to find this set of free shape book patterns. These will make great templates for lots of things. I was looking for a fish to use with a fabric decoupaging activity. It went over well! :)

I have been thinking about starting my Christmas gift making. Last year, I was really new to sewing and making gifts and would love to do more this year. What are some of your favorite home made gift ideas? Also, any great Fathers' Day ideas? …

Plastic Grocery Bag Holder Fabric Choices

We've started offering custom plastic grocery bag holders in the shop and wanted to show some of the available fabric choices.

**B-3 no longer available.

**F-3 no longer available.

Thanks for looking! :)

Winner, Winner!

Using, the winner is #14 - Amanda!! Look for an email soon! Thanks to everyone that entered!

Brand New Bag

When I saw this 1/2 yard Alexander Henry Kleo fabric remnant at Joann Fabric for on $1.35(!) I had to buy it! It quickly turned into a bag in my mind and I spent quite a bit of time last week cutting pieces for it and putting it together.

I used this pleated tote pattern as the basis for the bag, but didn't follow everything precisely. I am very pleased with how it turned out and love being able to make myself a new purse that I love for very little money!

Don't forget to enter our 100th sale giveaway! Tea wallet, coffee cozy, and album kit!!

Giveaway Time!

It's time for our 100th sale giveaway! We're celebrating our milestone with some prizes! The winner will get three items - the cupcake coffee cozy and album kit pictured above, and your choice of any tea wallet from our shop!

The contest will be open through Wednesday, April 21, 2010. I'll pick and announce the winner here by Friday, April 23, 2010. I'll email you, too, so make sure I have a way to contact you.

Thanks and good luck!

Giveaway Coming Soon...

We have been getting closer to our 100th sale in our shop and have been planning to have a giveaway when that happened. Imagine our surprise that it happened this week!! So...we have a little giveaway in the works to celebrate. Look for it this weekend!

First Quilting Attempt

Last week I finished my first quilted project. I used a charm pack to make it and backed it with some matching purple fabric. I really enjoyed working with all the fabric and putting it together. I have a few things I didn't do well at all, but I am not too discouraged...I hope to try quilting again very soon. Do you have any tips for a beginning quilter?

Look What Arrived Today!

Our first fabric since Lent started! Looking forward to making this into pillows, runners, bag holders, and more!!

Odds and Ends

I hope that everyone had a great Easter! We ended up having a nice day at my grandfather's home. Good dinner, Easter egg hunt, and the little one ended up being able to go! She came down with a cold on Saturday, so we weren't sure whether we'd get to go. We did, and I am so glad we did since my grandpa had to go in to the hospital today for some tests. (We knew he had to go in today.)

I got one of these cute little "chocolate" bunnies from PA Country Crafts. I just love it! My daughter loves it too...she had taken it off the piano where it was displayed and put it in with her toys.

I am enjoying Quilting Month II at Sew, Mama, Sew. Using a charm pack we already had, I have been attempting my first quilted project. It is not perfect (at all), but I am really enjoying it. I'll show the finished product (the front at least!) when I get finished.

We have a new plastic grocery bag holder listed in the shop. Mom and I are working on these together, which i…

Simple Skirt for Easter

I just finished a simple skirt for myself for Easter. I used the tutorial here at Handmade Mommy (and adjusted the measurements as necessary) and made the skirt out of this Heather Bailey fabric. It was purchased from Just Fabric on Etsy - I would definitely buy from her shop again!

I really like the fabric, too - the picture I took doesn't show how vivid and cheerful the teal is. I have quite a bit left over and am planning to make a few more things out of the fabric - maybe some button earrings, a skirt for my daughter, or a pretty fabric rosette! We shall see!

I have lots more projects I want to work on, including (I think!) learning to quilt. I bought a walking foot this morning, so I have everything I need to give it a try!

What Easter projects are you working on this week?

Free Shipping on Easter Items!

One week until Easter! Free shipping on all Easter items at CJ's Craft Corner! The table runners are reversible, making them have multi-season use. Check them out! Have a great Saturday!

New in the Shop!

I have been wanting to add covered button earrings to the shop and finally did this weekend!! I am excited to make and add more! We would love your thoughts...what would you think of covered button earrings, a tea wallet, and a card in matching fabric as a gift option, perhaps for Mothers' Day?

Treasury Time!

I was so excited to get an Etsy treasury today! Right now, I am in love with the Liberty of London items at Target (which are almost all sold out online and in stores!!). Those items and a recent (gorgeous) spread in Country Living inspired this treasury. Here are just a few of the items I included!

Buy Handmade

We were thrilled to be included in this treasury as well! Thanks to TreacleAndInk!

Does your Target still have the Liberty of London teapots? Love these!!

Spring is Coming!

In Ohio, winter lingers for awhile yet, but this week's weather has been so nice! We've gotten outside to play the last three days in a row!

I changed out my decorations in the house for spring and Easter, plus printed out a few pretty pieces of art to put in my daughter's room and our living room.

I used these two sources:
Kind Over Matter ABC Birthday Prints - in 6 colors!
Feed Your Soul - I used the one from Sarah Parrott from March 2009

I made a myself a pair of fabric covered button earrings yesterday, and am planning to make some to add to our Etsy shop by the end of the month. I am working on some more plastic grocery bag holders to add to our inventory, and my mom started making these envelope back pillow covers.

We planted some broccoli and lettuce seeds last week which are already sprouting inside. I put together a lion storytime for March and have been reading lion books with my daughter. While not about lions specifically, she has loved The Animal Boogie by Debb…

Recipe: Cinnamon Rolls

Here's the cinnamon roll recipe I promised: Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls! I am telling you - these are amazing and very simple to make! The recipe made 16 for us and we shared a few with my dad. I had every intention of freezing a half dozen or so to save for future breakfasts, but let me tell you, not one made it to our freezer.

I am planning to make another batch of these for a bake sale at our church this weekend. I'm sure a few will be saved for us, too. Yummy!

Need Your Ideas!

We have been thinking of lots of ideas for our shop and would love your feedback! Leave us a comment with your thoughts on the following!

What are your favorite items in our shop? What do you think of the following new items? Which ones would you be most interested in?
Decorative pillow covers, placemat/napkin sets, placemat/towel sets (for shower gifts), more seasonal items such as holiday towelsShould we add more purses and accessories - checkbook covers, business card holders/mini pouches, totes, purses? Thanks so much! We hope to hear from you!!

Still here!!

I haven't blogged in quite awhile, but I'm still here! I've been composing some blog posts in my head lately, so thought I'd pop in and write a short one.

I've been busy with adding inventory and promoting my mom's Etsy shop. We've added lots of new items and now have a Facebook page (look for sale info, new items, and giveaways) and are on Twitter. We've also been gearing up for a Spring Craft Show which officially starts March 1.

This week, I made a super yummy cinnamon roll! I'll share soon!

I also have this bag on my list of projects. I hope they turn out. I want to make a bunch!!

Stop by and let me know what you have been up to or show me some pretty Valentine projects!!

Happy New Year!

It's been 2 weeks since I've blogged! Obviously, the holidays kept us all busy. I worked on handmade gifts until Christmas Eve.

Then, I've been spending lots of time reorganizing the house, making room for all of our fun Christmas presents! Some of my favorites were my 2 qt. crockpot, The Pioneer Woman Cooks, Make It Fast, Cook It Slow, zebra print fleece pajamas, and sewing notions and supplies!

I've also been working on our Etsy shop - taking new photographs, listing new items (like this green coffee cozy), and setting up our Facebook Fan page. I'd love your thoughts on one question: How important is it that the fabric is designer on an item you purchase? Or do you just pick fabric you like?

I'm also planning on revisiting last year's (!) goals and setting some new ones for 2010. I'm also thinking of participating in some way in the Eat From the Pantry Challenge in January. I also spent some time this morning getting my coupons all reorganized!
