Over the weekend, I picked up some nice jersey fabric at Joann Fabric for only $3.50 a yard. I got 2 yards and knew I wanted to make a dress or skirt out of the fabric. Thanks to a tip from Lindsay, I decided to make a simple maxi skirt with a fold over waist using this tutorial from Make It and Love It.
The skirt took only about an hour and a half to make and I love it! I wore it today for my daughter's preschool Fiesta program. I like all the neutrals in the fabric and it will get a lot of wear. I can see it with a ruffled tank and sandals in the summer as well as a sweater, tights, and boots in the fall and winter.
This skirt is a good representation of my signature style - comfortable but dressy and classic with a touch of the trends. I like to start with basic pieces and add accessories like the necklace, bracelet, and flats.
I made my daughter a similar skirt from a premade adult t-shirt dress that I repurposed and I also promised to make my mom one as well. I may just make another one for myself!
I'm linking up!
