Odds and Ends + Giveaway Winner

Skirt: Thrifted, Striped Shirt: Christopher and Banks, Boots: Target

I woke up this morning and realized I never picked a winner for the spring giveaway! So...the winner is Deb! Congrats!

I only have 2 more days left of the Lent shopping hiatus. I am looking forward to getting a few new spring pieces, but overall I feel like this has been a really good experience. Over the last couple of years, I've tried to put together a wardrobe that is full of things that I can mix and match and wear together, and the last 6 weeks has proven that, for the most part, I've succeeded.

I did write a new clothing "wish list" and I do have a number of basic pieces I would like to start looking for. I think having items like a black blazer and a solid colored dress will round out my wardrobe and I am going to shop around for some of these pieces and spend a bit more on them if necessary. I have some items in the "spring" category of the wish list as well, and I feel like these pieces like a floral blouse and colored skinnies are ones that I can look for deals on and spend a little less.

I think I can thrift some pieces like blazers and skirts and I would like to attempt to make a couple of tops. I've been looking for fabric ideas since I don't usually purchase apparel fabric. I like the fabric weight/drape chart here and have a few ideas of the kinds of fabric I like. If you've made clothing, any suggestions of fabrics you like for clothing and where to buy? I've also been doing some research about companies that have better labor practices and help artisans in various parts of the world. I might try buying from a company like One Mango Tree or even from the Empowering Women Collection at WalMart. If you have any suggestions in this area, I would love to hear them.

Congrats to the winner! I'm sure you'll have fun shopping soon. =)

I can't honestly say I've ever thought of stripes with florals...that is a different look to me. The skirt is very fun and springlike!

Have a blessed Easter!
