Charm Square Wreath

We started getting out our Christmas decorations this weekend. I knew I wanted to make a new wreath, but when I went to Pat Catan's to look for supplies, I got so overwhelmed, plus I didn't want to spend a ton of money to make a new one. I have a lot of craft supplies, so I started looking around on Pinterest for some ideas that would use what I have. I found a fabric covered wreath from Craftiness is Not Optional, and thought I might be able to use some of my fabric to do something similar.

I already had a 12" foam wreath form and I also had a charm pack of some cute Kate Spain fabrics from her Joy line. (I got it on sale awhile ago.) I started playing around with the charms and tried to figure out how to wrap them around the wreath form. I ended up cutting each charm along the diagonal to form two triangles. Then, I wrapped them, one triangle at a time, around the wreath form and hot glued them onto the wreath. I alternated directions - one triangle with the wide part at the top, then the matching triangle with the wide part at the bottom.

The whole wreath took 16 charms. I used some striped ribbon I got at Joann Fabric a few months ago (for $0.25!) to hang the wreath. When I finished, I decided it needed something else. I used the Coffeetin font to print out letters to make the word "joy". I have a tag punch, so I used it to punch out each letter, then used a regular hole punch to punch two holes in each letter. I strung the letters on a piece of grosgrain ribbon and used two straight pins to attach the little banner to the wreath - hot glue would work also.

I love the colors - aqua, green, red, and white and am so excited I made it without purchasing anything new!
