I love "crafting for Christmas"! For my sisters, I'm making each one a quilted table runner and matching place mats. For SS teachers and church volunteers I'm giving them assorted jar gifts (brownies, cookies, hot cocoa, etc.). For dear friends, I'm making wreaths. Whew! I'd better get busy, huh?! I'm a new follower -- please come check out my blog, too! :)

Actually, I like to do food items, since the guys appreciate that, too. Sometimes I give away something special that I canned from our garden like salsa or hot mustard.

Pellon crafts has a project has a Togo embroidery bag that I made. I love it! Also, there is a super useful pin cushion that wraps around your sewing machine, so I made one for me. I found it on Martha Stewart's website.

This year I'm making tons of Granny Square blocks in different fabrics. With Jelly Rolls they go super fast if you strip piece them. When I have stacks and stacks of them I'll start putting them into tops of different sizes and then doing a simple meander quilting pattern. I'm thinking I can have at least 10 quilts ready for gifting by end of December. I love strip piecing, such a time saver and I just love the way the Granny Block quilts look when they are done. :D

Thanks for a chance at this fabric! Bet you can guess what I'll do with it if I win! :D

Neighbors get a cookie tray or homemade salsa from the summers tomatoes with tortilla chips. Teachers get hand pieced book covers or ipad covers.I've also made little Christmas stockings just big enough to hold a gift card to the book store. I hope this helps you. I like making different things for different people, based on their likes rather than just making one type of thing for everyone. I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and keep a board just for Christmas gift ideas. I especially like giving cookies and goodies. My husband's employer always gives us goodies for Christmas, and one year gave them in a homemade stocking, which was adorable.

I like to make small bags with either snap (measuring tape) or zipper tops, custom embellishments and straps. They are quick, easy to make and you can't have too many. There are lots of tutorials online to make these little beauties.
My favorite things to make for Christmas for my far flung collections of friends is a fabric ornament that's flat enough to stick inside a Christmas card. They vary from year to year--and, admittedly, some years are so hectic that they don't get made.
I started doing this because one of my favorite holiday activities is decorating my trees with ornaments from friends that bring back all kinds of wonderful memories.
