I got my skirt done this morning! Overall, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The sew along was so helpful to me. I have a tremendous fear of clothing patterns. I know it sounds silly, but I have a hard time understanding the directions on patterns and usually rely on various free tutorials I can find online because there are lots of visuals and step by step instructions.
The nice thing about the sew along at Noodlehead was that I could use my pattern pieces but follow the visual instructions she had in tutorial format. I loved the tip about making a waistband out of junk fabric first to determine what size to make. The zipper portion of the sew along (day 4) was also fabulous.
This skirt took longer than most projects usually take me, but I will make this pattern again. I have a few things I would do differently next time, but I am excited about my finished product.
Next up: some girls dance shorts using this free pattern from Carolina Fair Designs. I bought the fabric for $3.50 - compared to the $16 our dance studio is charging for these shorts, I figured it was worth a try!
