Book Review: Need You Now by Beth Wiseman

In the book Need You Now by Beth Wiseman, Darlene, Brad, and their 3 children have recently relocated to a more rural location to get fresh start for their family. They hope that a small town will help to remedy some of the problems their son Chad got into at his old school. The book starts out with some of the typical small town adjustments, but quickly begins to delve into some more serious issues facing this family.

I've read Beth Wiseman's books before and have really enjoyed all of her Amish fiction. This book was a departure from that genre as it is definitely a contemporary Christian novel but I still liked Wiseman's writing style and character development. I thought the book did a good job of dealing with some sensitive topics that face marriages and teenagers. It also gave us all some good food for thought as we consider how much we rely on and seek God's guidance in daily life.

I did feel that some of the characters in the book had issues that were introduced and not dealt with very thoroughly. I also thought that the ending was a bit abrupt and tied everything together a little too neatly. Overall though, this book was a very good and worthwhile read.

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze®.com book review bloggers program. All opinions are my own.

I loved this book as well. Very realistic portrayal of the struggles of marriage and raising a family. Despite all the difficulties they face, the book overall is very hopeful, and I think most readers will be able to relate to the problems. It would also be a helpful book for someone who wants to understand what goes on in the mind of a teen who seems “perfect” on the outside but is dealing with life’s pressure in a very unhealthy way. Great book!
