Storytime Fun: Ocean and Beach

"A" is 21 months old.

This week, we read lots of beach and ocean books and did some of the following activities. I always gather more than I can use, so I can save the others for later! On Friday, we went to a local beach where she got to throw rocks in the water and walk in the sand.

Books:

Spot Goes to the Beach by Eric Hill

How Will We Get to the Beach? by Brigitte Luciani and Eve Tharlet

Way Down Deep in the Deep Blue Sea by Jan Peck

All You Need for a Beach by Alice Schertle

Who's in the Ocean by Dorothea DePrisco Wang

Crafts: (We actually didn't do any crafts, but here are some good ideas!)

Tissue Paper Rainbow Fish (from Our Crafts 'n Things)

Once Upon a Book

Ocean Crafts

Music:

"Baby Beluga" by Raffi

"The Goldfish" by Laurie Berkner from Victor Vito

Snacks:

Sharks on the Beach (from Her Cup Overfloweth)

Other Resources:

Beach Centers from The Mailbox Preschool - June/July 2009, pp. 44-47

ABCs and 123s Ocean Themed Activities

Great idea to have a beach theme right now! I wish we had a beach close by. Thanks for the book list!
